Can I take an antipsychotic (Invega Sustenna) prior to Breast Augmentation?

Question

I know invega sustenna side effects can be high cholesterol, muscle spasms, seizures and more. I've been really nervous because I just got my injection last week 10/26/22 and I have surgery 11/15/22 for a breast augmentation.

I would recommend to discuss your questions with your Psychiatrist (or whichever physician is prescribing you the medication) and your Plastic Surgeon to ensure that it it safe to proceed with breast augmentation surgery.

This question needs to be answered by your surgeon as she/he is the one who will decide if it is okay to proceed with surgery as planned.  Your surgeon needs to be aware of all prescription, over the counter, and supplements that you take.  This is for your safety.

Thank you for your question. I will tell yo that every plastic surgeon has a pre-operative regiment regarding certain medications. The concern is with blood clotting which is low is still a concern. I would inquire about Xarelto prior to procedure to minimize this complication. I wish you the best of luck.

You should just take any medications such as these prior to your surgery without clearance from your surgeon as well as anesthesiologist. The worst case scenario is your surgery date will be moved to a time that is safe. It is improper at you discuss this with your docs.

Invega Sustenna may cause an increased chance of blood clots.  You should discuss this with your plastic surgeon.  The complication rate is low so you may still be a safe candidate for breast augmentation.  Your surgeon may use an injectable anticlotting medication (like Lovenox)
