The key to painless awake lipo by any technique is the quality of the local anesthesia injection technique. Some do it well, others not. If it concerns you enough and your surgeon is not an expert in tumescent anesthesia, shop around for another surgeon or request that an anesthesiologist let you sleep with sedation during your surgery.

It's quite normal to be nervous. There can be some minor discomfort during the process of injecting the local anesthesia (tumescent fluid). Once that is done, you will be quite comfortable, only feeling some pressure. You are going to be glad you did this awake once you are done, putting on your garment, and walking out the door.
