Will a Müllerectomy for mild ptosis also fix the uneven eyebrows caused by the ptosis?

The brow elevation is a compensatory mechanism to assist lift the droopy upper eyelid, so yes, the eyebrow should relax and come down once the eyelid ptosis is addressed. See following link and video.

when we evaluate the ptosis, we usually place one drop of phenylephrine 2.5% in the affected eye and see if the eyelid elevates to the desirable level. at the same time, we usually can see if the eyebrow drops as well.  

Pictures would be very helpful. The brow and the lid relationship is dynamic, as you have surmised, and changes in one will affect the other. There is certainly a compensatory relationship between the brow and the lid. In general, if your lid ptosis is addressed, then oftentimes the brow position often comes back to normal. I have however seen patients whose brow elevation has become a lifelong habit, and does not necessarily correct after ptosis repair. An in-person consultation would be very useful. Good luck!

thank you for your question. If your eyebrow issue is caused by your eyelid ptosis than it will correct itself after the eyelid ptosis repair. However, it is difficult to give you exact recommendations without photo or an in person physical exam. You can always repair eyebrow position to your liking after the eyelid ptosis repai if the problem persists.It's best to have a thorough in person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to discuss all of your treatment options. Ptosis surgery should relax your eyebrow/forehead once the surgery has fully healed. It occasionally does take patients weeks to months to relax their forehead because they have been doing it for so long. You can consider Botox to help relax the forehead after ptosis surgery as well. I would discuss these options with an eyelid surgery expert.

Thanks for the question.  Pictures would be helpful.  The compensatory raised brow on the right side may resolve with correction of the ptosis with Mullerectomy.  A correction of the raised brow with phenylephrine drops in the right eye may indicate that the brow will return to normal position with Mullerectomy although this is not always the case.  I would proceed with the Mullerectomy with a good chance that the brow will correct with it.  Good luck!!

Thank you for your question.  The eyebrow on the side of the ptosis may be elevated to compensate for the ptosis.  Although the eyebrow may drop after ptosis repair, this is not always the case.  Best wishes.  

Hard to answer without seeing pictures and examining you. But, yes, regardless of ptosis repair approach (anterior or posterior, which I do both) the correction will likely cause your brow to drop back down. This is very common. The degree to which the brow drops depends on the degree of the ptosis and correction.
