Although every plastic surgeon has his/her own postoperative protocol, after 16 years of performing buttock implants, I personally have never used garments (nor drains). I currently perform nearly 300 buttock implants patients per year and have not experienced any complications related to this protocol. Glad to help.
Thank you for your question.I would ask your doctor what they recommend. We each have our own protocols regarding garments. For instance, in my practice we don't use a garment after butt implants. We place the implant inside the muscle, and the muscle does a great job of "locking the implant into place" so a cumbersome garment isn't typically necessary.Your doctor will also be able to make recommendations on position (including laying). I don't want to say anything that goes against your doctor's beliefs or protocols. Buttock implantation is a great procedure, best of luck!
Dear patient,I hope this email finds you well. Yes you can sleep on your side after butt implant surgery and I personally recommend that you keep your post-op garment for one month after the surgery. This is the time that it takes for your body to form the capsule around the implant so that it is stabilized in its place and it will definitively reduce the risk of it widening the pocket.I hope this information was helpful.Best regards,Dr. Urzola
Hello slimcute41,Great question, and one that is probably answered a bit different by each plastic surgeon. I have my patients wear their garment for 3 weeks after surgery to ensure that the capsules form tightly around the implants. (this is also true if I perform liposuction as well as butt implantation). I also use drains for the first week for the same reason. However, every surgeon manages their patients in their own way so please consult with your doctor for the best advice. Good luck.
you should keep your garment on for at least one month. You can sleep on your side, this is the position that our patients sleep in when they combine their buttocks implant augmentation with a tummy tuck or breast aug.
Hello vanvanvan,Thanks for your question.I prefer to perform subfascial augmentation if at all possible. It is less traumatic to the gluteal muscle fibers. There is also less risk of sciatic nerve injury or compression. With intramuscular placement, there is better coverage of the implant,...
Ethical plastic surgeons will always respect their patients' right to privacy. If not, this is a red flag, which shows that they might be willing to break other protocols--including patient safety--just to protect their own interest. Always remember that a good surgeon will always...
Biconvex implants are nice, but intramuscular placement of an implant that size is very prone to causing problems. In selected cases the rigid edges of the wide biconvex implants can cause muscle atrophy and increased visibility. This does not necessarily happen , but it is a known risk. It r...
