Lipedema. Is there a doctor in the Chicago area for treatment of water lipo?

Lipedema as a condition is becoming more widely known and diagnosed more frequently. Liposuction can improve the appearance of the limbs affected by lipedema, but there is absolutely no controlled scientific randomized study that shows that one form of liposuction works any better or worse on lipedema patients. Don't be fooled into believing the marketing papers that liposuction manufacturers make claims in. They have not undergone any rigorous scientific testing. The claim that it won't damage the lymphatics as much is theoretical, not scientifically proven. As an aside, many of the claims made by the new companies are the same ones that were made almost twenty years ago when ultrasonic liposuction, one of the first new technologies for liposuction, came out. If you research every lipo technology, they all claim less bruising, swelling, pain, and quicker recovery, but none have been shown to be any better or any worse than the others in scientific studies. In summary, while the new technologies for liposuction do work, they don't offer an advantage over any other technology.

I offer water (BodyJet) liposuction to my lymphedema patients (and also offer Power Lipo, VASER Lipo, Ulrasound Lipo, and Laser "Smart" Lipo). There is a myth that water lipo is better for lymphedema patients. It is NOT true and NOT based on any scientific evidence comparing water lipo to any other type of lipo. It is more important to find the right surgeon who understand the problem rather than to find a liposuction machine with misleading claims for lympedema. See an example in the link below.
