In september of 2016 i got in an accident which led to a need of stitches. The scar has formed a bit ago and it also formed an obnoxious bump. I am wondering if is it possible to remove this bump and make the scar a bit more flat?
Answer: A scar revision can be done on the lip Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Can this lip bump be removed? Thank you for sharing your question. I would first recommend seeing an ASPS surgeon for an in-person evaluation and diagnosis. If related to scar tissue either conservative treatment with a steroid injection can be pursued or excisional surgery if it is a thickened scar. In the meantime I would start with scar massage therapy to help break down the tissue. Hope this helps.

Answer: Hypertrophic Scars Usually Respond To Intralesional Anti-Inflammatory Injections The bump scar on your lip is likely a hypertrophic scar resulting from the prior trauma and suturing. At this point, I would not jump to excisional surgery nor any other more aggressive interventions other than a simple trial of an injection of an anti-inflammatory agent to shrink the scar tissue--especially since you are primarily interested in flattening the bump. These kinds of injections typically take 10-1 5 seconds to perform and work in somewhere between 24-72 hours following treatment--so you will very quickly be able to gauge your response to therapy. Make sure that you see a board certified aesthetic physician. Remember the rule of KISS--i.e. keep it simple and don't let yourself undergo any more aggressive or more expensive treatments before you undergo a more simple approach. Best of luck.
