Long cut on my head from scalp scar revision after a prior cyst removal. Can I get it removed? (photos)

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. The lump you refer to may represent some hypertrophic scarring that may be improved with steroid injections.  Scar revision always carries the risk of the scar widening again.  The other possibility may be hair transplantation but if you have abnormal scarring then be cautious.

Scalp scars and their revisions are tough. I would go back to your surgeon and discuss other non surgical modalities for scar revision. if it's a bump that bothers you, once could consider intralesional steroid injections with 5-FU, which maky reduce the lump side significantly. I would stay away from additional cutting per se, as your body and genetic may make you predisposed towards keloid formation and hypertrophic scarring. If your surgeon is not comfortable, seek the expertise of a board certified dermatologist in your area.
