Fell over when I was 3 years old I had stitches but as a kid pulled them off as it was itchy and uncomfortable this led to my scar being shiny all my life. I don't mind if theres a scar there as long as the shiny ness is gone? Any advice?

A scar treatment plan can include utilizing both lasers to address the pigmentation and texture, and dermal fillers can be used to fill in any indentation or atrophy the scar may have left behind. Additionally, micro needling which stimulates the body's own collagen to tighten lift and rejuvenate skin can improve the area as well. A surgical approach could be to have a scar revision which would potentially create a less visible scar. A thorough exam of the scar is recommended in order too know what will be the best treatment option for you.

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

A combination approach would give the most improvement. This can be improved with lasers, microneedling/prp, subcision and fillers. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer
