Microneedling and PRP 36 hours later. It appears I have scratches and after washing my face with gentle cleansers, I feel burning again. The redness was so bad the morning after, that I had to put 2 layers of full coverage makeup. Is my skin damaged and what should I do? Was the procedure properly done? This was done for anti aging benefits, I have porcelain skin. Please help!

A sunburn like effect is common after microneedling treatment and can persist for 1-3 days. Swelling can last up to a week depending how aggressive the treatment was. Heavy makeup is usually not advised within the first few days after treatment. Two layers of full coverage makeup would most likely further irritate your skin. Each provider has their own post-procedure protocol. It is important to always follow up with the provider who performed the treatment to address your concerns.

It is very normal to have some redness and what looks like scratch marks for 24-48 hours post treatment. Make sure you use a good sun protection while your skin is still inflamed. If after 1 week the scratch marks do not peel off or you start to see any signs of hyperpigmentation you should contact the provider who preformed the treatment.
