Can you raise your eyebrows after treatment for 11 lines?

Can you raise your eyebrows (to express happiness or excitement) after treatmeont for 11 lines between the brows only (not forehead lines)? I want to not be able to frown and furrow my brow all the time to prevent a wrinkle from getting worse, but don’t want to lose my excited/happy face.

You should see a reduction in your lines without sacrificing your ability to make natural facial expressions. With the correct placement of injections, you should be able to reduce the glabellar lines without affecting your ability to raise your eyebrows. Thank you for your question. Botox is a neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes the muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles created by dynamic facial movements. When Botox is injected into the glabella (11's) the targeted muscles there are the corrugator supercilii and the procerus. You will still be able to move your brows if only these muscles are injected. The frontalis (forehead) is responsible for elevation of the eyebrows. The answer is - yes! In fact, that is the precise goal of doing Botox to the 11s. If you target these muscles that are responsible for pulling the brow down, your forehead should get a nice chemical brow raise afterwards. This is because the muscles that pull the eyebrow upward are left alone and can function without an opposing force.

This is a great question! Brow movement depends on weather or not you are treating your forehead with the 11's or just your 11's? Brow movement also depends on how much correction you are looking for which will determine how much movement you will have or want. The muscle that controls the frown is different than the muscle that moves the forehead up and down.  So, when only the frown is treated with Botox, raising of the eyebrows should not be affected.

The 11's are caused by muscles that allow your brows to come together, as in a mad or frowning face. Treating them stops you from moving them towards each other. Raising your eyebrows uses different muscles than the ones treated in the 11's. So you should have full use of the brows after treating the 11's.

You can determine how much movement you want in your forehead as Botox can be injected precisely at various doses to achieve minimal/zero or some movement, just make sure to discuss with your dermatologist to ensure you get the results you desire. In your case, start with a low-dose, & in 2 weeks if there is too much movement, you can always add more (but you can't take it out!).
