I have eye pain after breast implant removal explant. Any suggestions?

I was put under anesthesia and the very same day my inner eye started burning and hurting. The area seems to be a normal color of pale pink, sometimes red. This sensation occurs about 7/8 times a day and only subsides when I place a cold towel over that area for a few minutes. This has been going on for 16 days. Is this a normal side effect of anesthesia or should I go see an optometrist/opthemologist? By the way I did not experience this with my breast augmentation at all.

If you did not have this pain before anesthesia, and then after surgery started having the pain, it is likely having to do with the way your eyes were protected during surgery.  The anesthesiologists are very careful about the way they protect your eyes during surgery.  However, you can have a problem if something is not done perfectly.  I would most certainly see an ophthalmologist.  They can tell you whether you have a corneal abrasion or some other issue with the eye.  Do not delay the evaluation.

You may have experienced a corneal tear.  This can occur during surgery or after when you rub your eyes unknowingly.  Visit with your eye care specialist for an evaluation.  Eye drops may be indicated to aid in healing.

Thank you for your question.  I would recommend seeing an ophthalmologist.  It is possible you could have had a corneal abrasion.  They usually heal well without any issues but should be cared for properly

Hi.  This is not a normal side effect of anesthesia.You may have a corneal scratch or other eye problem that requires medical treatment.  This needs a prompt evaluation by an ophthalmologist.

Inner eye pain without tearing or crusting is very unusual after surgery. It is not an ordinary effect of anesthesia. It is possible to get a corneal abrasion after surgery, but this resolves within 24 to 48 hours. If you have inflammation of the tear ducts, you may need an eye drop such as Tobradex. In any case, I would consult an ophthalmologist for diagnosis and treatment.
