Still draining after 14 days of surgery. Is this normal?

Thank you for your question.Drains will drain if they are left in.  Once the amount of drainage has gone down significantly, your body will be able to reabsorb the fluid on its own when the drain is removed (your doctor will determine when they feel it is ok to do so).Patients may leak a little bit through the skin opening for a day or two after the drain is removed, and then the hole typically closes up on its own and the leaking stops.Best of luck!

Typically, after tummy tuck, the drains stay about 2 weeks.  Sometimes, you may have drains up to 3-4 weeks.  So, having drains at 14 days is not uncommon.  Typically, at this point, drain output correlates with physical activities.  Even though you started to feel a lot better and comfortable at this point, excessive physical activities tend to increase the drain output, resulting in a longer duration of drainage.  I recommend to keep the compression garment on all times, and physical activities a minimum.Best,
