What can I expect after getting chin lipo? Will my face be swollen? Bruised? What type of bandages will I have to wear? What's the recovery time and level of pain to be expected? I have 5 kids so far I don't know anything more painful than that...until I have a tummy tuck I guess..
Answer: Most patients go back to work 24 hours after neck liposuction under local. Liposuction of the jawline/neck is easy under local and gets almost no bruising when the doc uses the special pads that prevent bruising and swelling. You can often go back to work in 1 day and usually drive yourself home that day.

Answer: Liposuction - Liposuction and/or Kybella for Submental Fullness Thank you for your question and interest in chin liposuction. Generally speaking, patients can be back to work in about a week following liposuction of the chin. Bruising and swelling are common and expected following any liposuction procedure and often gets worse before it gets better. In my practice, patients are encouraged to avoid taking any NSAIDs before a liposuction procedure to help minimize bleeding and bruising risks. Patients will typically wear a face strap for compression for the first 5-7 days as close to 24 hours a day as possible and then at night for the next 2-3 weeks to help reduce post-operative swelling and to promote skin retraction.Another treatment option for submental fullness are Kybella injections. Generally a series of 2-3 treatments, Kybella is an in-office treatment that also poses risks for bruising and swelling but does not require anesthesia or the use of a compression garment. Please consider scheduling a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to review the various options available to you and to best determine your candidacy. I wish you all of the best.

Answer: Chin Lipo, what is the average recovery time? Thank you for your question. Healing after chin liposuction is usually pretty straight forward. There is a process of swelling and bruising that peaks at 3 days after surgery and takes about 5 days to fully recover. We typically have our patients wear a compression garment to help the skin and underlying tissues re-adhere as well as reduce swelling. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. A key quality indicator is Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

Answer: Chin Liposuction Recovery time should be minimal. You probably will need to wear a compression wrap for several days post procedure.

Answer: Chin Contouring with VASER, ThermiRF, Coolsculpting, Kybella, Thermage, Ultherapy, Exilis I find that VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF are best for contouring the chin in those who are candidates, but Kybella can be used as an alternative and needs to be combined with thermage/ultherapy/exilis or coolsculpting for good results. Downtime will vary, with liposuction, most people return to work within a week. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer
