Crying after restylane tear through injections—problem? Eyelid twitching since injection—problem?

Question

Ireceived Restylane tear trough injections yesterday. Unfortunately I received some bad news afterwards and was crying and blowing my nose for a couple hrs. Would this have caused any problems re the placement of my filler? Also, my R lower eyelid has been continuously twitching since. ?just some nerve irritation from the procedure and swelling related to that and my crying? just continue to monitor it? Does it sound like anything I ought to be more concerned about?

Thank you for sharing your question. Crying will not cause a bad outcome following injection of Restylane. The twitching is not related to your treatment and will likely resolve as well. See an oculoplastic surgeon in person if there are further questions/ concerns. Good luck!

Crying and blowing your nose is unlikely to change the results from your treatment.  The eye twitching is probably the result of the circumstances surrounding your crying.  You may experience a bit more swelling due to the crying combined with the injections.  It should resolve over the next week or so. Return to your injector if you do not notice improvement.

I'm sorry to hear your received bad news after your treatment.  The good news is crying will not effect the placement of the filler.  The eye twitching could be related to the crying.  If your symptoms continue, I would recommend follow up with your provider.  However, ice and keeping your head elevated will help any swelling or bruising to resolve so you can appreciate the final results of your treatment!

The most common cause of eye twitching is stress. The second most common causes include stimulants like caffeine and fatigue. So, the twitching you are experiencing is most likely due to the news you received that made you cry. 
Place cool soft ice packs on the area for 72 hours after injections to help with swelling and wait this one out.
