I have slight discomfort after my chin implant, should I go see my surgeon?

I am 5 months post op from a chin implant. I am having some soreness/ discomfort when I smile occasionally. Not all the time, but sometimes I notice the discomfort. I’ve also had some acne pop up around the area so that could be contributing to the soreness since the acne is somewhat inflamed but I am concerned the implant is infection. Should I go in and see my surgeon?

You should discuss your concerns with your surgeon. If you are having and allergic reaction you should change to a different antibiotic. I prefer to keep my patients on antibiotics for a minimum of 7 days. One of the highest risk for facial implants is infection.

It would be highly unlikely that your chin implant is the source of your headaches. I would discuss this with your surgeon and family medical doctor. Sometimes, headaches are a difficult diagnosis.

There is redness under the chin. I would see the surgeon and maybe run a Culture on the wound drainage, if there is any. Antibiotics will help.
