I have slight discomfort after my chin implant, should I go see my surgeon?

I am 5 months post op from a chin implant. I am having some soreness/ discomfort when I smile occasionally. Not all the time, but sometimes I notice the discomfort. I’ve also had some acne pop up around the area so that could be contributing to the soreness since the acne is somewhat inflamed but I am concerned the implant is infection. Should I go in and see my surgeon?

It is a good idea to discuss your concerns with your surgeon. However, in general, occasional soreness with animation is common in some cases. Infection is unlikely as most infections occur within the first few weeks.

I recommend following up with your surgeon. If necessary, you have 2 options:
1)  Get a different implant 
2)  Remove the implant altogether
It is rather easy and quick procedure to place a different implant if the implant is made of silicone.  If you have a Gortex or other type of implant, I would be more difficult to place a larger implant.
