I had an open rhinoplasty done 12/18 everything was fine until 7 days out of the surgery I started bleeding a lot I iced my head and neck and the blood stopped however I had more episodes of bleeding. My doctor said it could be caused by my blood pressure being high, I been monitoring my blood pressure is been normal and today is my 10th day of recovery and I had 2 more episodes of bleeding. I don't know what to do I already contacted my Doctor but he hasn't replied . Should I be worried??
Answer: See your doctor quickly Bleeding is very unusual this many days out after a rhinoplasty. It's possible if your blood pressure is excessively high. Are you taking any blood thinners such as coumadin, motrin, or other non steroidal anti-inflammatory medications? Taking too much vitamin E can also cause more bleeding. There is expected minimal oozing for the first 24-48 hours after surgery. Almost all patients have no bleeding by the time they see their surgeon on postop days 3-5 for suture removal. I recommend you see a surgeon quickly. If your surgeon hasn't responded this late, you should go to ER to have it evaluated. They may have to contact another surgeon for consultation. Best of luck.

Answer: Bleeding 10 days after a rhinoplasty is unusual and should be reported to your surgeon. Bleeding should have stopped by now. I doubt this is an emergency but your surgeon should definitely check you.

Answer: Bleeding after surgery It is rare to have persistent bleeding 10 days after your rhinoplasty. If this doesn't subside and you cannot get a reply from your rhinoplasty surgeon, I would recommend going to the emergency room to get full evaluated and treated appropriately. Best of luck.
