My surgeon messed me up really bad. My surgeon declined my initial request when I said I wanted my mandibles on both sides to be contoured in a sloped fashion. Now when he did my chin reduction he also reduce mid section of jaw and I have 3 rough edges in my jaw on each side. My jaw is a whole lot worse than before. I am furious because now he is suggesting a revision doing it the first way I suggested! How bad does it look? Who do I report this incident to? How long before I can get more work done? I am horrified!
Answer: Revision jaw surgery after FFS surgery? Revision jaw surgery after FFS surgery? I would wait 6 months before a revision. I am not a fan of mandible angle surgery based on my 43 years of FFS for most TG patients. Other surgeons however do it. Sees very experienced surgeon for this.

Answer: Revision jaw surgery Hi Staci. The height of your jaw bone is normally it's most gender defining dimension, so removing bone from the bottom of the jaw is the most feminizing for most patients. Everyone heals at their own pace, but I would recommend at least 6 months for most patients. You will need at least 3 months of healing before you can get a reasonable idea of how the final contour will look. I would schedule a consult with an experienced jaw surgeon after that amount of time has passed. Most of us are booked out a few months for surgery, so if we decide a revision procedure would be the best way to achieve your goals enough time will have passed for healing to occur before surgery. Hope that helps. -Dr. Rolfes

Answer: Jaw reduction surgery by an experienced surgeon Jaw surgery which includes jaw angle reduction and chin reduction also known as V-line surgery is actually EXTREMELY difficult for an inexperienced surgeon. Extensive experience is required to perform it safely but also with satisfactory results. Any surgeon you choose should be performing jaw reduction every week as it is a very technically demanding procedure to perform. Swelling is common in the early period but rough edges even in the early period should not be palpable if contoured smoothly.

Answer: Revision Jaw Surgery Sorry you are having such a hard time after surgery. I have a few pieces of advice. First, give it time. Some of the lumps and bumps may fill in and the swelling will go down. It is too soon to do a revision right now away, so for now follow your doctor's instructions and let it heal. Still unhappy in 6 months, consider a revision. What you are looking for is a true Vline surgery, where the bone is cut to make that angle. I do not think just using a burr will create the effect you are looking for, and it looks like this is possibly what was done here?If you are willing to travel out of town for surgery, I'd be happy to see you. I do set up online consults for a better evaluation. Best of luckDr Rodman
