Does Botox sometimes have the effect of getting worse before it gets better?

Question

I had Botox two weeks ago. No improvements in the glabella area. I have a tightness there. When the muscles around the eyes relax, my brows go back to the curved, or furrowed position, defeating the purpose of the procedure. I've seen this doctor before, and he does a good job. But previously had to add injections after the initial visit. So, this time he adjusted by adding more during the initial visit. Is this the cause? How long will this last before improved results begin to surface?

I appreciate your concerns.After two weeks, Botox effects are fairly maxed out. If you do not have a satisfactory result then see your practitioner. Sounds like he’s going to have to do a touch up injection and evaluate your concerns. Best wishes. Dr. Aldo

Since it's been 2 weeks the results should be final, for about 3 months. After 3 months all effect of botox should wear off. If your doctor used more product this time, I think it may have been a placement issue. If it does not go right into the muscle the results may be variable. You may want to let the office know and see if they can fit you in to take a look. Good luck!

Thanks for the question and sorry that you are having the concerns that you are having. We always recommend that you have these injections performed in the offices of board certified dermatologists or plastic surgeons as we understand the anatomy in the areas the best and know best how to use Botox. By two weeks after your injection, some need a touch up to make things the best they can be.  Sometimes, if things are not right, the placement of the Botox may not be correct. Find the right provider and you should do fine with continued Botox injections.
