I'm a 51 yr old woman weighting 160 lbs at 5'6". I need to loss 20-25 lbs to be my optimum weight. A few years ago I started to develop a double chin. I'm considering having work done. I want to know which procedure has least risk and the most reward. Below I have attached two photos
Answer: Lipo or CS Both can be effective for the right candidate. CS removes less fat than lipo, so often patients need to have it repeated a time or two. Without an exam, it will not be possible to fully evaluate you and give you recommendations. Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search.

Answer: CoolSculpting vs. Kybella vs. ThermiTight/FaceTite vs. Liposuction Thanks for asking your question about your double chin. This is a frequent question that I get in the office. The fact is that today, there are multiple different options for treatment of this area from completely non-invasive with no downtime (CoolMini handpiece) to injections with mild downtime (Kybella) to ways to heat the fat and tighten the skin with a needle opening in the skin (ThermiTight/FaceTite) to finally neck or chin liposuction. There are also many factors that play into which modality you choose from how invasive you want to be, what is your “downtime tolerance”, will you have loose skin afterwards or do you need the skin tightened, and how quickly you want the fat gone (1 session vs. multiple sessions). I suggest you come into the office for a consult where we can discuss all of these options and have an evaluation. All the best!

Answer: You could be a good candidate for CoolSculpting®. Both CoolSculpting and chin liposuction can achieve great results when trying to get rid of a double chin that isn’t responding to traditional weight loss methods like diet and exercise. But if you’re looking for a nonsurgical solution with minimal to no downtime, CoolSculpting would be the better fit. I would suggest scheduling a consultation with an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options in more detail. Good luck with whichever option you choose.

Answer: Coolsculpting Candidates Hi and thank you for your question! In this case, I would recommend you have in-person consultation for both surgical and non-surgical options. There is a component of skin laxity happening, so you may want to have that addressed, as well. The cool mini does work great for excess fat tissue under the chin, you may need 2-3 cycles per treatment plus and two treatment sessions. Liposuction/surgical interventions always yield more dramatic results in one shot, but there is more downtime and other factors to consider. Best of Luck! Jennifer Tinelli, NP-C

Answer: Coolsculpting vs chin lipo I am a plastic surgeon so offer both procedures. When you go for a consultation I would suggest seeing a board certified plastic surgeon who also does Coolmini. You will get the most unbiased advice this way. At 51, you can consider a neck lift with chin lipo and also tighted up the skin. Another great option is Cool mini, eliminate the fat and shrink the skin with the cold therapy. You may do the actual necklift down the road. I think the biggest reward is always surgery, but with downtime. The least risk would be Cool mini and is a great idea for a no downtime first step!
