My husband is very good about my getting fillers and botox but is extremely against getting any plastic surgery done with anesthesia. I am 52 years old
Answer: Is it possible or advisable to have a facelift or neck lift without using general anesthesia? Not only it is possible to do a face or neck lift without general anesthesia, but in my opinion it is most advisable. I have done hundreds of facelift, neck lifts, eyelid surgery and brow lifts under local anesthesia with moderate sedation. Over 95 % of my facial procedures are done using local anesthesia and sedation given to my patients by a qualified nurse under my direction and without using an anesthesiologist. If the patient wants deeper sedation we offer the use of board certified anesthesiologists. I almost never use general anesthesia for a facial procedure. The advanced knowledge of anatomy of the face and the path of the sensory nerves allow me to provide anesthesia just like the dentists do with minimal discomfort. I believe there is no reason why the patient should undergo a five hour operation which is the time required to do the face and the eyes, under general anesthesia. Local anesthesia is safer, more convenient and the results are better. The results are better because the patient can cooperate during the surgery. For example I ask my patients to open their eyes and mouth when I remove excess skin from the lower eyelids. I do this to make sure that there is no over excision of skin. This is a safety measure which can't be done under general anesthesia. There is also less incidence of nausea and vomiting which reduces the bruising and speeds the recovery. It is also less expensive.

Answer: Neck Lift Thank you for your question. Laser-assisted weekend necklift is a same day outpatient procedure that is performed in the office. There are many procedures that can be performed under twilight sedation, local anesthetic or even just a topical numbing agent, depending on the procedure. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon. Best wishes,

Answer: Necklift Yes it is possible, but you should ask yourself, "is a neck lift the best procedure in my case?" With an experience of several thousand facial rejuvenation procedures, I rarely found that the so called “neck lift“ was effective past a certain age and in significant sagging of the neck and cheeks. In younger people with neck fullness more than sagging and minimal cheek drop, it can still be effective. Do not forget that the muscle tightening part of a neck lift pulls the neck muscles together but also tends to aggravate the so called marionette lines around the mouth. In regard to a choice of anesthesia be aware that a board certified anesthesiologist is your best safety protection when heavy sedation is used! Clinique of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Possible to Get Neck Lift Without General Anesthesia? Neck Lift Can Be Done With Local Anesthesia I almost always perform neck lifts with platysmaplasty using local anesthesia. This makes the surgery less traumatic for the patient and also speeds recovery time. I do recommend that you have the platysma muscle tightened as well as excess skin tightened and removed. I hope this helps.

Answer: Concept Face and Neck Lift under local anaesthetic Most of my patients want a facelift however do not want the downtime associated. The Concept Facelift is the procedure I perform, which combines the latest surgical techniques with the use of local anaesthetic to dramatically reduce the risks associated with traditional facelifts, while significantly reducing the bruising and downtime of your recovery, from months to a matter of days. If you have lax facial skin, lost volume and feel that you have jowls and wrinkles on your cheeks and you look tired when you're not then the concept facelift can help improve your appearance. With concept facelift you will look natural and fresh just like the way you feel inside. There are no bandages, drains and hospital stay but with lasting results of traditional facelift techniques it fits with today's age. What are the benefits of a local anaesthetic facelift? Minimally invasive as it is a short scar facelift, although has the same effects as the Traditional Facelift as the SMAS muscle is tightened along with the skin. There is minimal bruising and swelling, especially when compared to traditional faceliftsAs the procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, you can go straight home following the procedureFull recovery in a matter of days rather than monthsSignificantly less risk than Facelifts performed under general anaestheticFresh, youthful and long lasting resultsTightening of the platysma muscle (also known as platysmaplasty) will require a small incision under the chin away from direct view to gain access to the front edge of the muscles on the neck; they are sutured together with permanent stitches. The muscles of the neck are the foundations and building blocks of the neck and are fundamental to achieving a tight and toned result. If there is skin laxity after the muscles have been tightened then neck lift involving incisions behind the ears will be needed, giving a nice contour of the neck. Please make sure you find a reputable and qualified plastic surgeon who can assess you properly to give you a realistic idea of what outcome you can achieve. All The Best
