Hello, I’m a 27 year old who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. I had a double mastectomy done in March 2021 I now have expenders in. I was a full C-D cup size I was a 38b before. I’m still getting saline pumped to achieve my goal. But I’m looking for a second opinion. Any advice? On getting a 695cc SSF. I’m 5’5, 170lbs.
Answer: Good question… Thank you for your question and photos. So far it appears you have an excellent first stage reconstruction. It is best to trust your plastic surgeon when it comes to final implant selection since he or she knows you best. You can help yourself and your surgeon achieve the desired final result by sharing photos of women’s breast you find attractive and hope to be able to emulate. Best of luck to you with your ongoing treatment plan.

Answer: Reconstructive Implants Thank you for your question. With reconstructive replacement of tissue expanders to permanent implants, you can expect your final implant to be around the same volume as what you currently have. I recommend speaking with your plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns.

Answer: Depends on how much is in your expanders. It does not appear as if a 695 cc implant would be too large for your body frame. A good judges by how much is in your expanders and whether or not he liked the overall size. He will ice that when you get your final implants she will be much softer and probably not project as much of the tissue expanders. It looks like the expansion is going well for you. Good luck with this, Dr. T

Answer: Implant size Dear Linita1905, breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.
