Degenerative Disc Disease & Breast Reduction?

Question

I am on the fence about a breast reduction. I'm a 36F (or maybe G) at 5'4. I have Degenerative Disc Disease and it's starting to cause bigger problems like losing strength in my hands. I'm 36 and worried about what things will be like when I'm older. Will a breast reduction help significantly? I met with a PS and he recommended going down to a full C. The last time I was this size I was a teenager. I don't want to do this if it's not going to help my pain. Thank you.

One of the indications for breast reduction, functional surgery, is to reduce pain. You have multiple reasons for pain including degenerative disc disease. Certainly a breast reduction can help relieve pain on the neck. No one can guarantee that the reduction in pain will be significant due to your preexisting musculoskeletal issues. However, it is very reasonable to pursue a reduction and insurance will cover it. A plastic surgeon can help guide you in the process and discuss goal size. Hope that helps.

breast reduction is best suited for women who wish to decrease the size of their breasts. While there are different techniques used to perform this surgery, I prefer the vertical incision (lollipop pattern) breast reduction technique instead of the anchor scar pattern, which reduces more noticeable scarring than usual. I also use a SAFE liposuction technique to reduce additional fat around the stubborn axilla area and bra line.
