Genioplasty or rhinoplasty for nose that I feel overpowers my face? (Photos)

In essence, you have to accept that surgeons have their own aesthetic version which may not necessarily match with yours.

When you have doubts regarding the best course of action for you, Computer simulations either with normal photographs or in 3-D can help you design the changes and determine more accurately what do you feel suits your face and your aesthetic vision. It is better to avoid using selfies or mobile phone images for the simulations because they produce significant distortion of the facial features and will make it difficult design changes with reasonable accuracy.

It is not feasible to evaluate your candidacy for either rhinoplasty or chin surgery with only frontal photos. Consider re-asking your question with profile and oblique photos - the relationship between your chin and nose on profile is very important for evaluating your concerns. Hope this helps you. Nose surgery or chin surgery? In profile the nose and chin are seen in relation to each other. a large nose will often make a weak chin look even weaker or vice versa a week chin will make alarge nose look even larger. A common procedure in patients with a large nose and small chin is to do a Rhinoplasty and chin augmentation at the same time. In people with borderline weak chins reduction of an over projecting nose will make the chin appear a little stronger relative to the reduced size nose. You do not show any profiles which are the most important view to address this question to you directly. If you would like a more specific answer to your own situation please show some profile views with and without a smile .

A full set of facial photographs from all angles are going to be required make a determination about two different surgical procedures. The chin and the nose are three-dimensional structures.

With a vertically short chin you are correct in that vertical chin lengthening would help considerably with improving your facial balance. It is impossible to tell from front view pictures whether your chin is horizontally short as well. The best way to determine how vertical chin lengthening would change your appearance is with computer imaging from both the front and side view pictures.

I should first state that close up photographs may distort the images somewhat, so take everything I relate with a "grain of salt".
An old plastic surgery proverb states that the distance from the frontal hairline to the top of the nose should equal nasal length, should equal the distance from the columella of the nose to the chin ...(should also equal the height of the ear). From the frontal view photos, the distance from the frontal hairline to the top of the nose is minimally increased, while the nasal length and the distance from the columella to the chin are equal.
There are no lateral views to determine chin projection.
The nasal dome appears prominent, amorphous, and round.
One may consider a tip rhinoplasty to define the nasal tip. I cannot comment on the chin without a lateral view.

Thank you for your question. Cannot appreciate your chin in these photos so will not comment on genioplasty. Definitely the dominating factor in your facial features is your fantastic smile. Everything else is secondary! Having said that your question was about making the nose a little smaller. A side view would help. On front view, your alar cartilages that form the tip could be trimmed a little to narrow the width of your nose, and that is something that is fairly straight forward, could be done with a local anesthetic, and not requiring bone work. And something that is predictable in most cases. Other than that I wouldn't suggest a thing.
