This procedure will give you a more defined jaw structure and pull your jowls to get a tightened and firm look which would look more natural. Yes sometimes that can be treated with a bit of lipo to the area to reduce the fullness, some clinics offer microneedling and botox to reduce the appearance of this. More photos would be needed such as the other side of the mouth and side angles. Speak to your plastic surgeon about some options that they may offer.

The “superior jowl” fat you speak of is that fold of looser skin and fat between the nasolabial and lateral commissure/marionette folds.
