Will microneedling RF cause facial volume loss? (photos)

Thank you for your pictures and questions. The short answer is yes, it can. With Morpheus8 (or any other RF MN device), the depth of treatment can be set to anywhere from 1-4 mm. Most of the skin in the face has a depth of around 1-2 mm (see attached link). So if you are setting the treatment depth to 3 or 4 mm with M8, then you are applying that RF energy to structures beneath the skin and this can theoretically cause volume loss. I would discuss your specific concerns and goals with your plastic surgeon and make sure the treatment you are choosing is right for you before proceeding.

Thank you for your question. I regularly perform RF microneedling (Morpheus8) and have not had any cases of volume loss. The settings determine the depth and on the face especially the provider has to make sure to stay superficial (compared to areas of the neck, arms, etc where one may want fat loss). Hello there. Morpheus 8 is a fantastic option for full face rejuvenation. Morpheus has the potential to cause some fat loss, but only if a depth of 4mm or more is used. Facial treatments can achieve great results without fat loss by sticking to 3mm depth or less

If the needles used during the RF treatment of the face are too long, then fat can be destroyed, making an individual look considerably older a few months later. You have to make sure you specify that to your treating physician of choice. Systems that use needles that come into the skin at a 45° angle appear to do the best job.
