im planning a tummy tuck and liposculpture and bbl to achieve the greatest curvature. the scar from a tummy tuck however looks very unattractive. how soon can i get tattoo to cover it up?
Answer: Tattoo over the Tummy Tuck Scar Oh, please wait a year or so. The scar will go through phases as it heals and you really won't know what you've got until about a year later. At first, these incisions typically look pretty good. At six weeks most of my patients tell me what a "great job" I did with the sutures and they are very happy. Unfortunately, it is at around this time that your body starts to deposit a lot more collagen along the scar and it will begin to turn somewhat red. Sometimes it even becomes elevated for a time. This process will go on for about 6-8 months, and then it will begin to fade. At about a year, you will have a much better idea what it's going to look like. If you really want a tattoo at that point, at least you are making that decision on sound information.I invite you to check on the link I am attaching. There are images of a similar scar that I revised at the 3 month and 2 year post revision mark. There is quite a difference and the only difference is time.Good Luck!

Answer: Tattoo after tummy tuck Wait at least one year before having the tattoo. Your scar will continue to mature for the first year or two. There are some studies that show that the darkened scar color will continue to fade for up to two years.

Answer: How soon after a TT can I get a tattoo to cover the scar? Thank you for sharing your question. Because scars can continue to mature for up to a year or more after creation I would recommend waiting for at least a year after fully healed before pursuing a cover up. Hope this helps.
