Serosanguinous drainage almost a month after tummy tuck

Question

Hello, so I had a tummy tuck about a month ago and also had 3 jp drains. 1 cam out about a week after the surgery. The other two came out about 3 weeks after. One of the holes has been leaking yellow fluid; it has been pretty constant. It literally leaks and the fluid has been thin. Just last night, the wound started leaking redish fluid which I assume to be Serosanguinous fluid. It very heavily came and has since slowed a little. My Surgeon says this is ok as it has to come out. Thoughts?

Yes it has to come out, but at this point you should probably have surgery with drainage and placement of more drains.

I tend to agree with your surgeon. Delayed blood tinged fluid leakage is likely a seroma that found its way out. This may take care of itself, but could produce trouble in the coming weeks. Stay in touch with your surgeon and make sure that this really clears up. Bad outcomes could lead to surgery to eliminate a chronic seroma. Best of luck.

This can be frustrating and is probably serosanginous and represents a seroma. This should reduce of its own accord although if it doesn't settle / increases you need to see your PS.
