My doc asked me if I wanted a pain pump for my tt recovery. I said yes that the $500 was worth it. Anything I can do to assist myself to get up and mobile asap seems beneficial. Your thoughts, professional experiences and options would be appreciated.

Answer: Is the Pain Pump Worth It? I am a strong believer in the multi-modality approach to pain management. The less narcotic you take the better and faster your recovery. The pain pump, however, is old technology. In 2017, Exparel has pretty much replaced the Pain Pumps.

Answer: Pain pump Pain pumps have sort of fallen out of favor now that Exparel injections can be used. I have been very impressed with the significant reduction in post op pain seen with this drug and no extra surgery, incisions nor tubes are necessary.
