I had my nose done 10 years ago and I was left with a hanging columella. The columella itself is thick, especially the excess part that's hanging. I wouldn't want anything else done to my nose. It's so embarrassing to have the inside of my nostril on display for everyone to see. How much would this procedure cost in the LA/OC area. I'm even willing to drive to San Diego if I find the right doctor. Also what would be the difference in price between general and local anesthesia (in your office)?
Answer: Hanging Columnella You need to have a consult for an evaluation of your case, and see if it really is just a hanging columnella or something different, like retracted ala or the combination of both. Once the diagnosis is made a operative plan can be made to fix the problem and you can get a quote for the procedure.

Answer: Columellaplasty? Honestly said, that does not exist as operation itself. May your nose suffer any structural disbalance causing over exposure of the columella then this issue or issues should be specifically addressed, but keep in mind that sometimes the origin of a cosmetic problem of one nasal area is NOT located at that area but distant in other nasal areas.Secondly, seeking the less invasive procedure just for fears or money savings leads 100% cases to the worst results, things have a solution which is the solution and have no workarounds. Finally, major operations are done in operating rooms in hospitals, never in offices, mostly if any sedation or total anesthesis is involved.

Answer: Columellar Show following rhinoplasty The main issues following a rhinoplasty which lead to a look of columellar show including a hanging columella, retracted ala, ptotic or drooping tip and a pseudo-hanging columella which may be a combination. Depending on which of these is occurring you can perform a revision to improve the look to how you want it. Unfortunately, the revision may be a little more complex than it seems just by looking at your nose or pushing on it with a finger. A good answer can't really be given without seeing photos and possibly examining. Revision tip work can vary greatly in cost depending on the surgeon and the amount of work needed. It can range anywhere from 5k to 20k generally in Southern California for surgeon's fees. There are surgeons who charge more as well, but not commonly.

Answer: Cost of a rhinoplasty The cost of a rhinoplasty or a columellar-plasty as determined by time in the operating room, time under anesthesia, and the surgeon's fee for performing the procedure. It is very difficult to perform a columellar plasty under local anesthesia due to extensive pain fibers in that area of the nose. In our practice, we place patient's under a very brief general anesthetic for the columellar plasty for patient safety and comfort

Answer: Nasal Columeller Revision Dear In1988, A consultation and examination would determine the cost of the revision procedure. In order to properly address your concerns there may be other refinements needed to attain the desired result. Anesthesia whether under local or general should be approximately the same fee as the anesthesiologists fee is determined by the amount of time in the operating facility and not the type of anesthesia. I would suggest a brief general anesthesia to secure both patient safety and ensure comfort. Most surgeons like myself offer free consultations which allows you the opportunity to discuss your concerns with different surgical providers enabling you to make an informed decision. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
