it takes six months to 2 years for scars to mature and the redness to disappear. Silage is the silicone gel I prefer my patients to use. Silicone sheets are good for raised scars to control flatness. LASER may help, I don't use it for redness.
Sorry to hear about your disappointment. Scars are never invisible. They can be concealed or placed in strategic locations. At 10 months they are mature but the redness may take up to two years to improve. Embrace is considered top line therapy so I believe you have done the most. Some physical therapists recommend the use of the Graston technique. Avoid sun exposure which may make the scars more red. In my opinion, lasers may improve the redness but are unlikely to make them less wide.
Thanks for your question and the photo. The photo doesn't come through as "awful scarring" but may look worse in person. One potential downside to combining a lift and an implant at the same time is that internal pressure from the implant will cause less favorable scarring. That's one reason I don't like large implants in this scenario. That said, scarring is multifactorial and there is a large genetic component. If you are unhappy with your scars and want additional treatment, then you will have to pay something to try and lessen their appearance. Laser treatment and microneedling are certainly options. Best of Luck!
Scars are (unfortunately) forever. There are no scarless surgeries (with the exception of fetal surgery). However, scars will mature and change for the better part of a year post-operatively. There will changes in color, contour and texture. One of the primary determinants of scarring is genetics. Some will inherently scar better than others. While it is impossible to predict the appearance of the final scar, there are measures which can be taken to improve the appearance including massage, silicone sheeting, and sun protection.Once mature, scars can be revised. Laser resurfacing can be employed. Kenalog or 5Fu injections can also be of help.Based upon your photos, you appear to have very reasonable scars. A laser treatment can potentially help with pigmentation. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
From the picture you provided, your scarring is actually looking very good although you didn't indicate how far out from surgery that you are. As I tell my patients, there is no way to "remove" scars but there are several ways to help the incisions heal optimally after surgery. That being said, some people will still develop suboptimal scarring as the results of their genetics. In your case, some form of laser therapy or micro needling may prove very helpful. And although your surgeon has charged you for surgery, there is no way that he/she can guarantee how you are going to heal and most PS's will not include scar therapy as part of their initial fees because everyone is a little different and may require a little different approach. I hope that helps and wish you the very best! ~Gregory A Buford MD FACSBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon
Hello, and thanks for your question. Based on your image provided it appears that you are healing well. I am not sure how far out you are from your breast lift, but for my patients I recommend solar radiation protection, regular massage of the incisions, silicone gel sheeting, no smoking, and patience for the first 7 to 12 months. In the event that the area is not improving then other modalities such as scar revision, possible laser treatment, or steroid injection are options.Best wishes, Sergio P. Maggi, MD
There is no way to erase a scar. However, your scars look great and will continue to improve with time. You could continue with what you are doing, but I'd skip the laser and spend the money on something else!
The honest answer is that you will always have scars after any type of surgery. From the picture your provided it actually looks really good for 10 months. It sounds like you have been doing all the right things with silicone therapy and scar massage. I would recommend just giving your scars some more time to mature. Again, the scars will always be there but they will likely continue to fade. Best of luck!
After breast lift, the incisions are always going to be visible. The goal should be to minimize the appearance of incisions as best as possible. Incision/scar healing can take as long as 12 months on most patients. Consistent use of scar creams, silicone sheeting etc. for several months can result in significant reduction in the the appearance of the incisions, but not complete elimination. For incisions that still have an unacceptable appearance, we provide various other therapies include laser treatments, micro-needling, and other therapies. If you have concerns about the appearance of your incisions, having a second opinion is always reasonable.
Scars will unfortunately never fully disappear. You will still see some improvement of the scars over the next few months. Your scars actually look quite good. There are laser treatments that can help reduce any residual redness as the scars continue to mature. Without an examination it is impossible to evaluate your overall result, but by the photo you showed, you have a very nice result, improved from preoperative appearance I would think.
Capsular contracture after one week is virtually impossible unless you had it prior. This tightness is almost certainly swelling and discomfort from the dissection on top of the muscle. This will subside with time. However, you should continue close follow-up with your doctor to make sure you ...
Hello. Thank you for your inquiry. You may be an excellent candidate for breast augmentation surgery. Cup sizes are usually quite difficult to calculate as everyone has a different starting point. It is important to have an in-person assessment regarding your concerns as it is difficult to...
Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Pictures and breast measurements would be very helpful. The size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft t...
You should see your doctor in person to get an opinion. An hour drive should not be a factor when you are considering your post-surgical outcome. There is little that can be appreciated from the photo, and we have no idea how your breast looked before surgery. You should continue to follow up...
Thank you for your question! Implants initially sit high up because the chest muscles and surrounding breast tissues have not become accustomed to the implant resulting in tightness. You have to allow gravity to take effect, and overtime, natural tissue expansion will allow the implants to fall...
The answer is yes but the implant will be on the wider end of the range for your breast, causing some "outside" push on the implant. Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly...
