Can a facelift and neck lift exacerbate tinnitus?

I have "manageable" tinnitus, meaning, it pretty much stays in the background. One woman I know reported a very distressing increase in her tinnitus after a NL/FL. It was the Dr's opinion was that the swelling made it worse. Fortunately, it subsided after a few days. Does anyone have experience with a patient with tinnitus who had these procedures? I am very interested in knowing what to expect. I hope to have a deep plane FL and NL.

Thanks for the question.

I have not experienced that issue in any of my patients, and have not heard of it being reported. That I hope will offer some comfort, as it must be very uncommon, and the explanation  offered by the doctor whose patient had the issue, seems to be reasonable.

All surgery does carry risks though tinnitus after a facelift I would imagine is extremely uncommon

I appreciate your concerns, however I am unaware of facelift surgery either causing or worsening this condition. Tinnitus is a frustrating and possibly even debilitating condition, however facelift surgery should have no effect. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to confirm my advice.
