Pregnant with twins after tummy tuck

Question

I had a tummy tuck in 2015. I just found out I’m pregnant with twins! I'm already small (4’11” and 135 lbs). I’m scared my skin won’t stretch for the pregnancy or that it may hurt too much. I’m so nervous that it’ll feel like I’m going to “explode” because there isn’t any room in my belly.

There really won't be any problems with your body accommodating the twins pregnancy after a tummy tuck other than undoing some of the benefits of having had the tuck.

Your belly will stretch just fine. It is not really possible to predict what will happen after the babies come regarding how well it will shrink.

A tummy tuck should not interfere with having children in the future. You may need another tummy tuck or a revision after delivering the twins. Your stomach may not pop out as much as you expect, but your babies will still have all the room they need to stretch and grow.

Congratulations, and as the mother of twin daughters, good luck! It's a wild ride.  You should be fine, but make sure your OBGYN knows about your previous surgery.  It would be helpful if they knew if you had muscle plication.  But, twins always put you in the "high risk pregnancy" category and you are very petite, so be prepared your OB will probably refer you to a perinatologist. Good luck, and yes, try to relax.  Jane.

you shouldn't worry about that because your body will be able to change during pregnancy in order to allow enough space for 2 kids to grow.

First of all, congratulations!
The body has an amazing ability to stretch, especially in response to slow changes from underneath. I have had patients similar to you get pregnant and stretch out their prior closures without issues. 
We see this all the time in breast reconstruction...where women start flat and have a tissue expander (an adjustable in size surgical balloon) placed to slowly stretch the skin and make room for a breast implant. Yes, stretching can be uncomfortable but it is definitely possible. A link to a patient showing this concept is below.
The twins will grow slowly, and your expanding uterus will provide a constant stretching force for your abdominal wall and overlying skin.

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy!  Your body will slowly stretch and adjust to your growing uterus during your pregnancy.  The prior tummy tuck should not impede your body's ability to accommodate for the babies.
