Thank you for your question. Finasteride should not cause any hair loss. It should only affect the hair on top of your head in a positive way. I suggest you consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon. Your in-person examination may indicate that you are a great candidate for NeoGraft, a permanent and natural-looking solution for hair loss.Best wishes,
Finasteride is commonly used for treatment of male pattern hair loss, and should not cause thinning of facial hair. I suggest consulting with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
This is an interesting question and important area for further study as there is limited information about the effects of finasteride on beard growth in adult men. It does seem the growth of beard and body hair is DHT mediated, but interestingly most men do not experience loss of beard hair with DHT reduction. However, it's possible that a small proportion of men do experience a reduction in beard hair with 5 alpha reductase inhibition and perhaps slightly more likely - body hair. It's not common but certainly there are patients that have reported reduction in body hair. To prove it definitely, more studies are needed. It does not appear common even if it does occur in a small minority. Body hair seems more likely than beard hair but studies are needed.
I think finasteride has no affect on your beard to thin out. İt is better to measure thining of beard hair by using a hair check device and visit a dermatologist to find out any reason , skin illness for that situation .
I have not seen this in any patients or had complaints about it. Body hair other than hair on the head can thin with Finasteride use, but most do not complain about it. I will keep watch to see if others have similar issues.
Density enhancement post transplant can be done by using topical minoxidil. Further enhancement can also be achieved by performing PRP injections in the the beard.
You can try minoxidil on your beard but this may not produce more than peach fuzz hair. Try it and see what happens.
You had surgery and you are having issues due to surgery. The best thing to do is to contact your doctor instead of trying to find a solution on the Internet. Follow up with your doctor.
