Small question just like that. I am at day 9 post op and my skin is super sensitive on top of my breasts and on the sides, but not my nipples. I had no more trouble but when I get up from bed or whatever I have a sensation of burning or electric shock sometimes and it's kinda painfull, it is the nerves that reconnects? I had no more trouble and this embarrassment just appeared yesterday. I just want to be reassured. thank you very much
Answer: What odd pains and sensations can you experience after surgery? Many women comment that during the early stages they experience numbness or sensitivity to the breast skin and/or nipples. This is normal and does go away. A heaviness or tightness type pain is normal after surgery. It can also differ between sides with one breast being more uncomfortable then the other. In addition to this, many women experience stabbing or shooting pains - often described as an 'electric shock' type pain. This often comes on suddenly and spontaneously and typically settles very quickly. This is normal and becomes less common over time.

Answer: Breast augmentation sensitivity Thank you for your question. The sensitivity that you are describing post breast augmentation is quite common and normal and is due to the stretch that has taken place to accommodate your implant. Best of luck.

Answer: Burning sensation after BBA Thank you for your question! Changes in breast sensation such as a burning sensation is very common, especially this early in the recovery period. Your surgeon may have counselled you about this, but basically what happens is that implants, especially large implants, may press against sensory nerves near the breast tissue leading to either increased or decreased sensitivity in breast and nipple sensation. The hypersensitivity may be pronounced on the sides and top of the breast because that is where the breast is mostly constricted, resulting in more tightness and firmness in the area relative to the nipple. Nevertheless, the good news is that for most people changes in sensation are temporary. This is because as your breasts stretch to accommodate your implants, your sensory nerves will be less compressed over time. The final results from BBA can result anywhere from 3-6 months. All will be well in time. As always though, the future cannot be predicted nor guaranteed, and in your case it is best to be in touch with you plastic surgeon for frequent follow-ups and questions. Remember that their post-operative advice and instructions take precedence over everything else you read here. Hope this helps.

Answer: Breast augmentation - skin sensitivity. 9 days post-op. Hypersensitivity of the nipples or skin after breast augmentation is quite common but typically goes away by 4-7 weeks. However if sensitivity is associated with a red rash or other skin abnormality you need to be seen by a plastic surgeon to rule out an infection.
