Will veneers improve my canted smile? (Photo)

I have been looking into ways to improve my small, gummy, and canted smile for awhile. I have found a cosmetic dentist I feel strongly can improve my teeth with veneers, but I was curious what others think. I know my cant is due to my jaw being shifted to the right. Most professionals I have met say surgery is my best option. My jaw causes me no pain or any issue so surgery seems too invasive. I am in braces now to close an open bite, but the cant has always been there. Will veneers help?

As an alternative to jaw surgery, your cosmetic dentist could use porcelain veneers to greatly improve the appearance of your smile.  This doesn't mean that he/she will totally get rid of the cant, but it does mean that he/she can alter the appearance of the cant to make your teeth look a lot less canted. Stop!Your open bite and "canting" is due to a temporomandibular joint problem. Jaw surgery, veneers, or gum work will not address the problem.you must find a doctor who will image your tmj's with an MRI and diagnose the condition first, then take steps to address it.

Yours is not a simple case.  You have very short teeth and as you stated, prominent gums.  It is possible to do simple gum surgery to move your gums up then a more pleasing tooth size can be used.  A good cosmetic dentist should have at least discussed this with you.  If they didn't you should consider a second opinion.  Jaw surgery may also be an option to improve your jaw relationship.  We really do not have enough information to give you good advise here.  I would find a good cosmetic dentist who can discuss all of your options for that you can make an informed decision.
