Surgery is possible to position the eye deeper in the orbit.  The surgery is called orbital decompression. You need a detailed assessment of the orbit and your sinuses to determine if you are a candidate for surgery.  Oculofacial plastic surgeons have the largest expereince in this procedure and you should go to some one who is commonly performing the procedure.  In making the decision to have surgery, understand that the risk of vision loss with surgery is significant.  Recent surveys of orbital surgery place this risk at about 0.78%. Please understand that that means 8 people go blind in 100 orbit surgeries.  While the risk of going blind from orbital decompression is less, it could still be higher than one case in 500.  That is significant.

You have proptosis and need a full ocular evaluation by experienced ophthalmologist and referral to an oculoplastic surgeon.  Once the diagnosis has been established and a cause for the proptosis explained, there are surgical options to correct this.  Most commonly a very complex operation: Orbital decompression is done.  But first she needed definitive diagnosis.
