Is it safe and healthy to do PRP and take Finasteride at the same time? (Receding Hairline) (photo)

I am 22 years old and I started to notice my hairline was receding when I was in High School but now I had the courage to do the PRP treatment and it was going good because I saw results on my hairline but after the third session with PRP I started to notice hairs falling out of my temples and after time my hairline was receding again. Please help me out I want my original hairline back but I dont know if its safe to take finasteride and PRP at the same time.

Yes, Prp will help you protect furher hair loss and finasteride will support the growth and hairs as well. You will need 2-3 sessions monthly in order to see its benefits

There is no reason one cannot safely receive PRP therapy while remaining on a medical regimen (Finasteride/Minoxidil). There is no interaction between the two.Finasteride is a viable option for men suffering from androgenic alopecia. Candidates meed to be aware of the fact that gains made on medical therapy are contingent on continued use. Additionally, some men will experience sexual dysfunction which can make therapy less appealing (owing to the hormone blocking nature of treatment).As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS) with experience in hair restoration.Donovan Rosas MD

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the hormone responsible for causing hair loss in males and Finasteride inhibits this hormone thereby less DHT is produced allowing hair follicles that were previously affected to start regrowing hair.
PRP contains growth factors which stimulate dormant follicles thereby stimulating hair growth.
As both Finasteride and PRP have a different mechanism of action they can be safely used in conjunction.

Finasteride and PRP work by different mechanisms, and therefore, should be okay to do both. In fact, many of my patients acquire both together. I would suggest seeing a Hair Restoration expert for your hair loss. Platelet Rich Plasma treatments are great for stimulating growth of miniaturized "dormant" follicles, which ultimately thickens the hair appearance. It may be beneficial for you to have a Trichoscopy examination of your follicles. From there, you physician may request possible lab work to determine your pattern of hair loss.

I don't see any reason why not safe to use PRP and finasteride for hair thinning (male pattern) treatment. They have different mode of actions; the PRP for its regenerative capacity, and finasteride for its effect on the hormonal component (dihydrotestosterone) of male pattern hair loss. But be sure to talk to a physician to be aware of the benefits and side effects of finasteride.
