I’ve gone to two consultations for a rhinoplasty in which I was advised to get on the treatment to help thin out the skin for my rhinoplasty. (Isotretinoin) My question is if this treatment actually helps thin out the skin on the nose ? I had a non surgical nose job done a year ago with radiesse as well!! Any advice or replies will be greatly appreciated.

Answer: Will I be able to get a rhinoplasty? Bulbous nose If the appearance of your nose concerns you, it can be addressed with a natural appearing rhinoplasty performed by an expert artistic plastic surgeon with extensive rhinoplasty experience. Patients with thicker skin can get a significant improvement in the appearance of the nose but need to be realistic about the result. The efficacy of Isotretinoin in thinning nose skin is unpredictable. Keep in mind, that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on limited photos without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of the proposed operative procedure with you and your parents may not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Rhinoplasty candidate Dear lizvcrbz, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
