Can I do Rhinoplasty after I've done nose-threadlift 6 months ago?

Thanks for the question. Removal of the threads 6 months after placement should not be an issue. Let your surgeon know the type and number placed. In all likelihood, these threads have dissolved and left behind some scar tissue. I’ve operated on noses that have had threads previously, and this scar tissue is straightforward to remove while lifting the skin flap. It takes a couple of minutes longer, similar to lifting a skin flap in someone who has had a prior rhinoplasty. No need to perform two surgeries. Best of luck!Dr. Mehta 

There is no need to have 2 surgeries as a very experienced revision rhinoplasty surgeon will know how to divide and remove these.

You don't have to remove threads, they are designed to melt away. There will be remnants of the threads still there in November, but no one should pursue to take them out; the rhinoplasty will divide what gets in the way.

Any threads or other injected material can be safely removed at the same time as rhinoplasty.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system.  You should be able to view numerous pictures of actual patients with noses similar to yours performed by your surgeon.  If you cannot find enough real before and after pictures, then consider continuing your search for a surgeon. Hello and thank you for your question!The answer depends on the type of threads that were placed in your nose. If they are PDO threads, they should dissolve on their own after 6 months have passed since treatment. If an alternative type of thread was used, it can be removed during the rhinoplasty procedure; however, it may be ideal to have them removed as the latter surgeon suggested and to wait the few months. I recommend consulting again with the surgeon you have the surgery scheduled with in November to discuss the type of threads that were used and if they would proceed with the surgery (if they have experience removing threads) or prefer to postpone for optimal results.Best,Kian Karimi, MD, FACS

The threads can be removed at the same time as your rhinoplasty as long as your surgeon is comfortable with a rhinoplasty procedure. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MD

 Much more information is needed, such as what type of threads you had done. Rhinoplasty is measured in millimeters, so it's imperative to be completely healed from this. It's probably best to wait  9 -12months to allow full healing before embarking on another procedure.
