Thank you for your message! Typically for deeper acne scars, a combination of modalities is required. We typically recommend microneedling and/or laser resurfacing. Microneedling is a great option for scarring, though typically requires multiple treatments. Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Through this process there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. You can couple microneedling with PRP (platelet rich plasma) for quicker results and a faster healing time. Chemical peels may help to improve the superficial texture/pigmentation of your skin, though likely will not help much with deeper scars. I would recommend a consultation with a provider in your area to further assess your skin type!
Thank you for your question. Chemical peels work well to help improve texture and tone of your skin but atrophic scarring (indentation) needs more aggressive treatment. This type of scarring is amenable to treatments that injure the skin causing subsequent collagen formation. Treatments include laser therapy, microneedling, chemical peels, topical Sculptra, etc. I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to have your skin evaluated and to discuss treatment options that best suit your needs. Take care and good luck.
Hello and thank you for your question. First and foremost, it is important to have completely refrained from picking, in order to avoid damage of the skin and subsequent discoloration. I am not sure which peel you have had. VI peels do not carry a Vitalize peel, I believe you may be referring to...
Thank you for your question. How often Vi Peels can be done depends on the person's skin type. Everyone's skin is different, and some patients can tolerate Vi Peels every 2 weeks and some only every 4 weeks. After the first Vi Peel, monitor and evaluate how long your skin takes to heal and for t...
Great Question. If you had only subcision, you should be able to have a peel quicker than if you had microneedling and subcision. I typically like to wait 2-4 weeks. Its best to follow up and see if your skin is ready.
