How soon after CO2 laser can I get a chemical peel (VI Peel)?

Question

I just had CO2 laser done a week ago and I was advised by my plastic surgeon to also get VIPeel done to help with hyperpigmentation. How soon after m CO2 treatment can I get the peel? I feel like my skin has pretty much healed now. Is it safe to get it done now?

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis.  We see atrophic and hypertrophic scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to discuss the best treatment options for your type of skin. .

It is my opinion I feel it would be best to wait at least 6-8 week after laser resurfacing before even considering a chemical peel. It also depends on what type of resurfacing you had done, wheather it be fractionated or fully ablative. If the skin is not fully healed you could cause more harm then good, like causing more hyperpigmentation. I think it would be best to ask the opinion of the provider who performed the CO2 treatment for you to answer this question.

It is always best to wait at least four weeks between any and all treatments to give your skin the proper amount of time to heal.
Speak to your provider who performed the treatment as they know the exact strength of the treatment and the time you should be waiting before having a repeat session.

For laser treatments, usually it is advised to wait a few weeks for the skin to fully heal before considering other facial procedures like a chemical peel. Even with lighter lasers, there can still be some redness and very light peeling that lingers around. The new skin does need more time to fully grow and it can take one month or longer for the final results to fully develop after a laser treatment.
