Hi, im 30 years old and worried about that my donor area is not good enough so i i have to get hair from my beard and chest area. Both areas have thick hair. So basically, my question is, what is recommended in my case? Added some photos too. Cheers.
Answer: 30 yo with hair loss Based on the photos it appears as if you have a good supply of donor hair however you are young and have quite a large pattern (class 6). Typically in your age group we only recommend transplanting the front and some of the top area at this point. That may require anywhere from 2000-2500 or more grafts. I would recommend a consultation with an experienced Hair Restoration surgeon who should set realistic goals and manage future potential hair loss and change in pattern appropriately .

Answer: Donor Area For Hair Transplant From the photos, it appears you have a sufficient donor area for a hair transplant. But an in person consultation should be conducted to confirm. Some important things to note during your hair transplant/surgeon shopping is that you have rather severe hair loss across the hairline, crown, and across the top of the scalp. As a result, you will likely need a high number of grafts to cover the area. Because we do not recommend mega-sessions (the risks include hair loss as a result of trauma, increased risk of visible scarring, etc) you may need more than one hair transplant surgery to reach your goals. Because you are younger, you may be a good candidate to add PRP therapy to your surgeries (this can be done at the same time). PRP may increase the hair growth and results of the surgery. If you decide to go forward with surgery (and multiple surgeries) your donor area will need to reevalutated after your first surgery. Some patients need to use body hair for additional surgeries.

Answer: It would be best to see a doctor so they can examine your donor area if you are considering surgery. It would be best to see a doctor so they can examine your donor area if you are considering surgery. Beard and chest hair is usually the last option after scalp hair since it does not match.

Answer: Beard to scalp later Your donor area seems quite adequate for a hair transplant. You should see a hair restoration surgeon to help you plan for your current and future hair needs. To start, I recommend at least 2500 to front, corners with tapering to the top. After that, you can consider a second transplant to fine tune the front and fill in the top. Beard hair is an option but we almost always use posterior scalp donor hair first leaving the beard for the crown area.

Answer: Hair Transplant Your donor area is somewhat thin, and you have significant frontal and crown loss. An estimate of the area is probably 140-150 cm2 that needs to be transplanted. If we are trying to obtain 40 hairs per cm2 of density, then you would eventually need 5600 hairs. That would be a large amount of grafts for your donor area. I agree with placing more hair for you in the frontal area and leaving the crown alone for now. My estimate of hair for this would be about 3000-3400 grafts to have the correct density. I agree that you should seek a personal consultation so that the appropriate plan of care could be personalized for you.
