Does CoolAdvantage (35minutes) have better results than the old applicator CoolSculpting (1hr)?

Same efficacy - 20-25% average reduction of fat, however, with the CoolAdvantage applicators you are treating a larger surface area in almost half the time and with 45% reduction in bruising. We have seen a huge reduction in side effects with using the CoolAdvantage applicators. The larger surface area technically means more area treated but that is relative to who is being treated. Each person had different needs and depending on the patient's body, the traditional applicators might be a better fit, therefore, a better result than the CoolAdvantage. 
The sizing differences are below;
Traditional CoolCore/Curve/Fit 110 sq. cm  
CoolAdvantage Core/Curve/Fit 122 sq. cm
CoolMax 275 sq. cm 
CoolAdvantage Plus 201 sq. cm

The CoolAdvantage applicator has several improvements over the original CoolSculpting: 1) Less suction is required, for greater comfort; 2) Treatment only takes 35 minutes v. almost an hour with original CoolSculpting; 3) CoolAdvantage treats larger areas, further shortening treatment time.  Both applicators remove between 20% and 35% of fat during one session. The larger number occurs when you follow CoolSculpting with a Zimmer Z-wave radial pulsed therapy massage.  Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who is certified by Zeltiq to perform CoolSculpting body contouring. 

The major advantage of the CoolAdvantage is time of treatment.   Also, the overall patient experience is more comfortable with the new applicators.   We haven't seen a big difference in overall outcomes but it has been reported that there is a slightly larger surface area of treatment.  

Hello and thank you for your question. The CoolAdvantage applicator is just as effective as the original applicator, but is able to reduce treatment time by almost half. The new technology in the CoolAdvantage applicator brings the temperature down the necessary 36 degrees F faster, causing fat cell necrosis quicker while delivering the same results as before. The CoolAdvantage applicators treat one degree cooler than the traditional applicators. For this reason, treatment time is decreased from 1 hour to 35 minutes. The whole surface of the applicator provides cooling, therefore, less suction is needed and discomfort is less than the older applicators. Results are basically the same with the two applicators. However, not everyone is an appropriate candidate for the CoolAdvantage applicators and in some people the older applicators work better. This is why it is important that you are under the care of an experienced physician who can determine which applicators would be best for you. Hope this helps answer your question!

Thank you for your question. The new applicators do have slightly better results. This is because the entire cup treats the area of concern, where as the old applicator had treatment plates. CoolAdvantage has also minimized bruising, swelling, and discomfort. If you have the option to treat with this new technology it is the way to go!

we believe the old applicators are more efficacious.  however, the newer ones take less time and some say are less painful.  Best, Dr. Emer.

The efficacy of the older (1 hour applicator) and the new CoolAdvantage (35 minute applicator) are comparable in fat reduction. The CoolAdvantage's surface temperature gets 1 degree celsius colder along with being much more efficient in transferring the cooling to the fat. This allows for a quicker treatment time without sacrificing efficacy. Additionally, the CoolAdvantage applicator's geometry is better optimized to allow for better contact with the bulge under less force. This factor results in increased treatment comfort and less post treatment soreness and bruising.

Hi California,
There are many benefits to the Cool Advantage versus the old applicators.
As far as results, I'd say they are the same BUT there are so many benefits to the newer applicators:The advantage is that the applicator is much, much more comfortable/ almost no bruising vs. quite a bit of bruising/ less swelling/ it covers a bit more area and so much quicker!

No, it does not provide any better results than the original version. The advantage is only that each treatment session will be 35 minutes versus 60, and for some patients is slightly more comfortable. There is no difference in the amount of fat reduced from each treatment area, or in the number of treatment sessions you will require for each area.
