4 weeks post op BBL can swelling of flanks cause muffin top appearance?

Question

I'm 4 weeks post op bbl and since the early days my flanks look bigger than before the liposuction and the muffin top appearance causes a big dent in my silhouette. I've been wearing my compression garment but it hasn't really helped this area much. All the other areas look pretty good. Is it normal for my flanks to be so swollen? I did notice in the morning (after being horizontal for so long) this area looks a bit better.

Dear angbabe,some patient have severe swelling after a liposuction and it can last for months before it resolves. I would recommend you to follow your surgeon's instructions and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS

Some patients to swell a tremendous amount and it does take a rather long time before it goes away .  I would recommend you follow up with your surgery frequently  if he has a large experience with liposuction he should be able to help you through this.

Hello dear!!Thanks for the question and provided information as well.It's normal to be that swollen at first! Remember it takes 6 months to 1 year to get back to normal. But, massages, walking around, drinking water and a good compression helps a lot.I recommend you to talk with your plastic surgeon about your worries.Good luck :)
