Shape of areolas changed after breast lift/augmentation. Will they return to normal?

Hello Baby58. A breast lift will change your areolas and right now they may not be as responsive and even numb. As the tissues heal this should get better. The details and rationale for creating a particular areola shape and size are known only to you and your PS. At 3 weeks since surgery, it is common to feel like this and be self-conscious about the appearance. This should also get better. Loss of sensation and responsiveness in the areolas is a risks of the surgery, but the vast majority of patients recover function. Discuss your concerns with your PS and see what he recommends. Thanks for your question. I am so sorry you feel this way. The final result of a breast augmentation is normally apparent about 3 months post-op. Give your breasts some more time to heal. If over time you are still unhappy, speak to your PS about your concerns. All the best,Dr. JSB
