Hi I'm from Asian. I just had a FUT surgery, and i only had about 2000 grafts transplanted. i was expecting much more than that. At first My doctor told me that i would be happy with the result. then after the surgery i only saw my front head had transplanted graft but not the top. so i was a bit upset. The doctor told me that because the strip'' donor area'' only has about 2000 grafts. please help ! thanks

The number grafts you can safely harvest may be different for everyone.  It depends on your donor density and scalp elasticity.  It also depends how long the scar may be.  (Longer scar = more grafts)

From the photos it looks as if you have below average to average density in the donor area.Depending on the width of the strip that was taken 2000 grafts sounds about right.As far as where the grafts were placed that is something you need to discuss with your surgeon.

This depends on many factors:
1. Skin laxity
2. Donor density
3. The length and width of the strip
4. The graft cutting style: This one is especially interesting. Lets say you have a strip containing 5000 hairs. This could be prepared anywhere between 2000 to 4000 grafts. As you can see the graft number from the same strip can vary depending on how it is cut.

Doctor said true . I have not done any FUT op for 6-7 years but the number of 2000 grafts is in normal limits .  An  experienced surgeon can able to harvest as much up to 4300 grafts in 2-2.5 hours with FUE technique without any skin cut or scar formation risk .

In Asians, the donor density is often lower than Caucasians and the donor density often limits the harvesting amount along with the donor laxity. These are professional judgments that your doctor made for your safety.
