I would like to find out how many grafts would be needed to fill in the thinning area in the crown of my head. The total cost of the procedure would be extremely helpful as well.

Crowns can be deceptively difficult to fill in. I would estimate 2000 grafts to fill in the crown, with always the possibility of a second procedure if the density needs to be increased.

Several factors need to be considered and understood before undergoing a hair transplantation to the crown.  Given the shape of the area and the direction of hair growth, the filling in of the crown is a challenging area to achieve complete coverage.  Age is a very important factor when considering a hair transplant to the crown as well.  Measures should be taken to help slow down the progression of hair loss to the crown particularly in younger patients as this area will only inevitably get larger with time.  Early hair transplantation to the crown would only provide coverage for a certain amount of time as the crown hair loss will continue to progress.  All these factors need to be understood before proceeding with a hair transplant to this area.  This being said, your crown area would require a procedure of around 900-1,100 grafts from the photos submitted.

That would depend upon the thickness of your hair (fine, medium or coarse) which would therefore range from 1200 for coarse hair -1800 grafts for fine hair
