I have had a deformity in my right butt that is hardened, fat missing, and flat for as long as I can remember. I haven't had any trauma, injections, no medical history, no spine issues (other than an epidural years back). Hasn't gotten worse, but I cannot wear dresses/leggings since their is a fat bulge on top of the depression which makes it worse. Does anyone know what can be causing this and if lipsuction/BBL can fix this?
Answer: BBL A healthy BMI is between 15 - 24, the maximum recommended being around 30. If you are above 30, then you are encouraged to lose weight before undergoing surgery. The higher the BMI the higher the chance of complications. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will help you get an accurate recommendation for your procedure and for pricing. Answer: Unilateral gluteal issue You right gluteus has the appearance of having had radiation therapy. This is often what the skin discoloration looks like and this treatment can also give fat necrosis. Something is not normal and we would need your full medical history and examination and to get more information before giving you recommendations. Based on the appearance and if something is physiologically different with the tissues I don’t think it’s going to be straightforward to correct this. If this is due to previous radiation therapy then it will not be amenable to procedures like fat transfer. I suggest talking to your primary care doctor and having a few in person consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons in your area. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
