I was told that I have festoons but they don’t look like other picture or seem to fit the definition. I tried restylane once before and it made it worse which also makes me think they are not really festoons.
Answer: Correction for Festoons Hi Typhani. If you are referring to the slight indentation below the cheekbones, then yes, these are sometimes referred to as festoons. We prefer to refer to the issue as a malar separation, which is represented by the tissue below the cheekbone moving downward as we age. This downward sagging of the skin leaves behind a small pocket that appears indented. This is a very common problem and easily addressed with dermal fillers such as Restylane, Radiesse or Lyft. All offer good results but we prefer thicker fillers such as Lyft and Radiesse in this area.To see before and after photos of a very similar patient of ours that was treated in our Los Angeles office, please click on the link below.

Answer: Eye bags or festoons There is evidence of lower eyelid fat bags and early malar festoons. The eye bags are treated with trans conjunctival blepharoplasty and if done properly that should solve this permanently this permanently. The festoons are best treated with CO2 laser.

Answer: Improving Under Eye -- Fillers (Belotero, Volbella, Restylane Silk), Fraxel, Microneedling/PRP, Co2 These do look like very minimal, early festoons. A combination approach will give the most improvement. Fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP can improve under the eyes. My patients try to get non surgical treatments to avoid surgery. We use PRP and stem cells there often. I suggest consulting with an expert to develop a treatment plan best suited for your short and long term goals. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Are these Festoons or Eye Bags? Lower Blepharoplasty Rejuvenates Eye Bags and Festoons The only permanent solution to eye bags and festoons is lower blepharoplasty. You don't seem to have anything more than very early festooning, but your eye bags are quite visible. Taking care of them now with lower blepharoplasty will make you look younger and more energized. The results should last about eight to ten years. You should also develop an anti-aging regimen with your facial plastic surgeon that will include skin care and laser treatments to maintain the results of your blepharoplasty and keep your skin looking healthy and young as you age. I hope this helps.
