Burning Sensation off and on where drain was after TT. How long will the sensation last? (photos)

Question

I am 8 weeks post op and had a stitch that popped through. They hadto numb me up and pull it out in the center of my TT incision a week ago. I have a terrible burning pain now on the left almost where the drain was. I am not on an antibiotic. Do I need one? MY PS says the center is the weakest spot of the incision but everything else is doing great. How long will I have this stinging sensation? It's on and off all day long way worse when up and moving.

Thank you for the pictures. Pain is the drain site can occur. The resolution of this pain is variable meaning it differs from patient to patient. Keep close follow up with your plastic surgeon and this should resolve within a reasonable amount of time.Good luck.Earl Stephenson, Jr MD, DDS, FACS

Unfortunately such burning can persist after drain removal.  It will subside with time.  Continue to follow your surgeon's advice; it seems as though she/he is taking good care of you.

There are many sensory nerves in the abdomen and sometimes they become irritated.  This can cause your symptoms.  This usually improves over the first 3 months.  Light massage can be beneficial.

From the posted pictures: It seems that you have some redness and the top layer of the skin is peeling off. Your surgeon will be best to advice you. Meanwhile, topical antibiotic will help for now until you see him. Good luck.
